I often find myself having conversations with friends concerning which shows we are currently obsessing over. The issue, however, is that once you find that one amazing show, it inevitably ends. When I’m in a show rut, I always revert back to my all-time favorites: Sex and the City, Friends, The Office and New Girl. Sometimes I need something new, so I’ve rounded up what I think is the best (and relatively underrated) Netflix has to offer:
The End of the F***ing World
Starring Jessica Barden and Alex Lawther, this inventive show focuses on two teens based on the comic book series by Charles S Forsman. James is convinced he is a psychopath and has set his sights on a deeply deranged and disturbed girl, Alyssa. The two set out on an adventure (think Bonnie and Clyde), where dark, hilarious and downright f***ed up scenarios ensue.
You will like this show if you enjoy bleak and witty English humor.
This mini-series centers on life in the American Mid-West in the late 1800s. Frank, an outlaw, seeks refuge in a town he happens upon, only to learn it is made up nearly entirely of women. From murder to romance, this show captivates audiences and keeps them on their toes, afraid of what might happen next.
You will like this show if you enjoy HBO’s Westworld. (psst, Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery stars)
With genius Judd Apatow behind the scenes, this show guarantees hilarity, awkwardness and drama. Gus is known as “the nice guy”, always doing and saying what he thinks to be the right thing. Whereas Mickey, a vulgar and uncontrollable woman, does and says the first thing that comes to her mind. Put the two in a room together, and you get one amazing series.
You will like this show if you enjoy Fox’s New Girl.
Brit Marling plays a blind woman who returns home after being abducted for the last seven years. However, when she returns, she has her sight. This series blew viewers away with dramatic twists, turns and an unthinkable ending. Anything but predictable, The OA is a refreshing and addictive series.
You will like this show if you enjoy Netflix’s Stranger Things.
